Doctrine Download: 8 Things to Proclaim about Jesus

1. The Incarnation of Jesus

  •  Jesus is the fulfillment of Old Testament prophecy. Look specifically at the first Gospel proclamation in Genesis 3:15.

  • Jesus is the product of the virgin birth. This matters. Jesus had no inherited sin, so he was not like Adam. Adam sinned and became a sinner; now we are all born into sin through the line of Adam. (Romans 5:12-21)

2. The Sinless Life of Jesus: Hebrews 4 says he was tempted in every way just as we are but he was without sin.

3. The Earthly Ministry of Jesus: This includes the preaching, the miracles and the way he loved people. These are the stories of Jesus that we read in the Bible. The lame walk, the mute talk, the blind see and the dead are raised to life. Jesus looks at the most unclean of people and makes them clean (he touches a leper and transfers his cleanliness to the leper).

4. The Death of Jesus: He was literally dead, and he died under the weight of our sin and shame and sorrow.

5. The Resurrection of Jesus: YES!!! Praise the Lord. He is RISEN!

6. The Exaltation of Jesus: Philippians 2 says God has highly exalted him, and Jesus now sits on a throne ruling over heaven and earth, and though the earth is broken Jesus is establishing a kingdom in which he will one day put all things back together. He will make all things new (Isaiah 25-26, Hebrews 2).

7. The Exclusivity of Jesus: My wife Little and I have an exclusive relationship. This is the way that a marriage relationship was designed to be. It is a reflection of how the Christian’s relationship with Christ should be. Jesus himself said, “I am the way the truth and the life. No man comes to the Father except through me.” One thing many people will try to do is place Jesus in a crowd of other gods and simply say that you can choose Jesus or another God and they all are basically the same thing. But Jesus said something different (Galatians 1:6-9).

 8. The Imminent Return and Future Reign of Jesus: One day Jesus will literally, physically return to earth. At that time, he will take those of us who are in Christ to be with him forever.
